Women in Data Analytics: Opportunity for Aspiring Level 4 Data Analysts

In a monumental stride towards gender equality in the tech industry, The S&A Academy is breaking down gender barriers through a new groundbreaking initiative that focuses on accrediting women.

Set to launch in January 2025, the Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship will trial running two cohorts, extending an exclusive invitation to women only.

What does the Data Analyst Apprenticeship have to offer?

The S&A Academy Data Analyst Apprenticeship encourages hands-on experience, allowing women to work on new and exciting live projects. Participants will engage in data analysis, trend analysis, derive actionable insights, and will further have the opportunity to learn from industry experts. Apprentices will also receive guidance from S&A mentors throughout the course, focusing on developing both technical and soft skills essential for course completion.

What modules does the curriculum cover?

Module 1:
Data Source Identification and Evidence-Based Decision Making (2 months)

Module 2:
Stakeholder Communication and Reporting Needs (2 months)

Module 3:
Data Collection  and Cleansing (2 months)

Module 4:
Performance Dashboards and Reports (3 months)

Module 5:
Report Development and Organisational Policy (2 months)

Module 6:
Statistical and Data Analysis Reports (2 months)

Module 7:
Trend Analysis and Interpretation (2 months)

Module 8:
Data-Driven Recommendations (1 month)

Module 9:
Presentation and Summarisation of Results (1 month)

Module 10:
Ethical Data Reporting and Legislation (1 month)

Module 11:
Data Storage and Archiving (1 month)

Module 12: Continuous Self-Learning and Professional Development
(Ongoing throughout the  21 months)

During the course, women apprentices will master Python and R programming languages, SQL for database management, as well as leading data visualisation tools like Power BI and Tableau. Offering a combination of online and in-person sessions, the flexible learning approach aims to accommodate various learning styles and schedules.

 

Eligibility criteria

  • All applicants are required to have former knowledge of spreadsheet software and will already be proficient in using various IT programmes.
  • Applicants will commit to a minimum of 6 hours per week for the duration of the programme, lasting between 18-24 months.
  • In addition to the core curriculum, the apprenticeship will work on Change Management and Data Storytelling modules that heighten the overall learning experience.
