Introduction
This 18-21 month apprenticeship programme designed specially for quality technicians and laboratory assistants working in the life science sector, embeds three fundamental components which we believe makes someone successful in this industry.
The course is designed for those looking to progress into lab based roles, or existing employees who would like to learn more about the theory behind what they do.
Delivered ‘in person’ via our unique online platform, the course will equip your future scientists with the skills needed to be able to work effectively in the Laboratory on Day 1.
Core Modules
Module 1: Health & Safety, Ethics, Sustainability & Information Management
Including an Introduction to COSHH, DSEAR, COMAH, Environmental Protection and use of the Laboratory Information Management System.
Module 2: Data Analysis & Statistics, Quality Procedures and Laboratory Maintenance
Focusing on the use of statistical tools to analyse data, quality legislation and regulation within the industry in addition to the importance on internal regulations and good housekeeping and maintenance.
Module 3: Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Learning the fundamentals of root cause analysis, core problem solving techniques as well as the basics of six sigma including Kaizen to make long lasting improvements in their role.
Module 4: Core Science
From learning the fundamentals of organic and inorganic chemistry, to understanding how biological systems work including the fundamentals of physics such as light, waves and radiation, all apprentices learn the 3 core sciences.
Monthly on-the-job training & mentoring
In partnership with employers, we conduct regular one-to-one progress reviews with apprentices to monitor & validate continued learning of required skills & knowledge needed for their role.
Concluding with the end-point assessment gateway
When working at the required standard and backed by their own comprehensive portfolio, the apprentice undertakes a graded End Point Assessment (EPA), achieveing a Pass, Merit or Disctinction in their apprenticeship.
