Driving Success and Transforming Careers with The S&A Academy’s Levy-Funded Apprenticeships
Through the use of the UK government’s ‘levy fund’, The S&A Academy has significantly helped to boost careers for both apprentices and businesses across the UK.
We are extremely passionate and proud about promoting the impact of our apprenticeships, and recognise the key role they play in shaping people’s futures.
Since 2010, more than 5 million people working across various sectors including healthcare, science, business, technology, and engineering, have had the opportunity to earn while they learn through apprenticeships.
Heavily subsidised by the UK government, our very own apprenticeship programmes go the extra mile to offer THREE Professional Academies in Technology, Science, and Business and Leadership. Each one delivers recognised qualifications, expert training and real-world experience that is invaluable to people looking for work, wanting to start on a new career path or gaining a qualification in a role they already undertake. We are on a mission to show that apprenticeships are far from daunting and they can be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding choices a person can make.
How does the apprenticeship levy actually work?
Put simply, ‘levy-funded’ apprenticeships help to push industry growth and play a key role in the upskilling of the UK workforce. Usually paid by larger companies – with a bill exceeding £3+ million – it is known that only around 2% of employers currently pay this levy. Those that do pay have a digital account to access the funding for apprenticeship training.
Smaller employers can also benefit, paying just 5% of training costs with the government covering the rest. This approach means that apprenticeship opportunities are completely accessible to businesses of all sizes, further promoting skills, development and workforce diversity where it is most needed.
By using the Levy Transfer Scheme, this further allows levy-paying businesses to support non-levy businesses by transferring their unspent levy, potentially negating the need for smaller employers to contribute the 5% training costs.
What is the S&A Academy doing to get more young people into apprenticeships?
The S&A Academy apprenticeship system provides both government-funded and Enhanced Apprenticeships programmes, that work alongside our high-rated training courses. The programmes we offer set us apart in the industry as they offer a unique approach that brings the learning experience beyond the norm.
To continue supporting apprentices in their chosen fields, The S&A Academy helps businesses transition current workplace employees into apprenticeships, in addition to providing guidance to brand new apprentices entering the first stages of their careers. We take great pride in contributing to the growth and development of the current teams and new starters, and our aim to sustain this support for many years to come.
